Standing Together in Solidarity

We are deeply saddened by the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, and the treatment of countless Black people who have endured decades of racial injustice in the United States.

At the Cognizant U.S. Foundation, we have long recognized the failure of our systems, institutions, and communities in addressing our country’s longstanding history of systemic racism—and we are committed to addressing these barriers.

Standing Together in Solidarity

While we acknowledge the hard work ahead, we continue to be inspired by our grantees. Since its inception, the Foundation has supported organizations working to ensure communities of color thrive in a 21st century economy. Organizations like CodePath.org, Code Nation, and Goodwill Industries of Southern Piedmont are improving lives and addressing systemic barriers in communities from Charlotte to Birmingham to historically Black colleges and universities across the country. We continue to learn from and elevate their work.

But there’s so much more to be done.

In support of these efforts, the Cognizant U.S. Foundation has committed an additional $5 million to serve communities of color, the latest in the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to advance education, training, and career pathways in technology for communities across the U.S. In parallel, the Foundation is completing a metrics evaluation, conducting a language audit, and committing internal resources to ensure our organization continues building equitable structures.

We stand in solidarity in the fight for racial justice and equity—and look forward to a brighter future ahead.
